About

Hi!  Welcome to my page!

Since discovering what wonderful friends and companions rats make, one of my greatest joys is finding ways to enrich their lives through good food, good companionship, and an exciting living environment.

On this page you’ll find tutorials for some of the projects I’ve made for my ratty boys, as well as ideas for accessorizing your own rat cage with household items.  Because I have a very limited selection of power tools, no garage or work area, and no sewing machine, all my projects are necessarily simple.  Because I am poor, nothing in this blog will be expensive to build!  Everything can be constructed in small spaces with minimal tools, and many of my supplies are purchased at thrift stores.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you enjoy the experience!

    • Hi Emerson, I sweep up the rat droppings every day and wash the liners at least once a week in the washing machine. For bedding, I give the rats a pile of fleece scraps and/or paper towels cut into strips. The bedding needs to be changed every few days. You can wash the fleece strips in the washing machine, and throw away the paper towels.

  2. Hello!
I just wanted to thank you for your inspirational ideas. ❤
I wanted to hang out with my girl more on the bed(I'm a huge lofer). So I wanted to make a movable/removable rat fortress. Your site made me feel more positive that I can do this!

    Keep posting!
